Glass Desktop Box first attempts a direct peer-to-peer connection. If the networks do not permit it, the encrypted relay path can forward the transfer.

Frequently asked questions about cross-platform transfers
Can I transfer files in both directions?
Yes. An invited browser guest can send approved files to the Windows participant and receive approved files from the Windows participant, subject to the supported browser and the current service description.
Does the phone need a Glass Desktop Box app?
No. Glass Desktop Box is installed on the supported Windows system. The phone or tablet joins through a supported modern browser.
Can a Mac or Linux computer send files back to Windows?
Yes. The invited person can use the supported browser workflow to send or receive approved files in either direction.
Are files always transferred directly?
A direct peer-to-peer route is used whenever technically possible. If the networks do not permit a direct route, the intended encrypted relay fallback can be used.
Is this permanent cloud storage?
No. Glass Desktop Box is not presented as permanent cloud file storage. The relay fallback forwards an encrypted transfer when required instead of providing a permanent file archive.
