Updates and activation
The application checks a secured version manifest, verifies the downloaded installer and can run an update over the existing installation. Test and production channels use separate configuration and credentials.
An update does not require a new license activation each time. Existing Boxes and user data must be tested across the complete old-version-to-new-version update path.
Checkout through Paddle
Paddle is planned as the merchant of record for website checkout. Paddle can calculate and collect applicable taxes, issue transaction documents and process supported payment methods under the checkout terms shown to the customer.
No secret Paddle key belongs in public source code. Sandbox and production credentials remain separate environment configuration.
What remains when a service entitlement ends
Local user files are never deleted merely because a subscription, transfer allowance or remote entitlement ends. Installed local Box organization remains available according to the applicable license state, while remote services and future updates can stop with the relevant entitlement.
The checkout, account and cancellation interfaces must state the actual term and consequences clearly. Mandatory consumer rights cannot be removed by support text or contractual wording.
